The wasp (vespula vulgaris) can be a dangerous flying insect. Easily agitated, they can sting repeatedly and such stings are often very painful. Noise and vibration close to the nesting site will provoke them.
Some persons are anaphylactic, some more so than others, and this will determine how the body reacts to a sting. The wasp sting can kill and has killed but the category of individual killed by wasp stings are ones who have an unusual reaction, not to the venom in the sting but to their allergic reaction to the venom. This is known as anaphylactic shock.
The wasp, like most creatures, will fiercely protect their Queens and their nests. Therefore, great care must be taken when dealing with a wasps nest. Common sites for nesting include garden sheds, attics and any other small crack or crevice that provides them with security. They will also nest in the ground and within dense shrubbery.
Locating the nest is critical and, once located, a single treatment by a professional Technician will be sufficient to eliminate it.
